Euphyllia ancora
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The gold form of Euphyllia ancora is a premium colour morph displaying warm golden-yellow tentacles that glow brilliantly under reef lighting. Rarer than the standard green form, it commands a premium price among LPS collectors and creates a striking focal point in any reef. Aquacultured gold hammer frags are increasingly available from European coral farms and are more reliably coloured and hardy than wild-collected specimens.
Same requirements as green Hammer Coral: medium PAR (100–200), indirect moderate flow, Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Allow 15–20 cm clearance from other corals. Target feed 1–2× weekly with mysis or reef roids. Gold colouration may shift under different lighting spectra — under warm white lighting may appear more orange; under heavy blue actinic will be most vivid gold.
