Corydoras haraldschultzi
Origin: Brazil, Bolivia (Rio Guaporé)
Corydoras haraldschultzi is a beautifully patterned species from the Rio Guaporé and upper Rio Paraguai in Brazil and Bolivia, covered in an intricate network of dark reticulations over a pale yellowish-white background that creates a highly ornate appearance reminiscent of C. sterbai. It is a robust and active bottom-dweller that tolerates a fairly wide range of water parameters once established, making it manageable for intermediate aquarists. Regular water changes and a fine sandy substrate are key to its long-term health.
House in groups of at least 4–6 on fine sand substrate. Maintain pH 6.0–7.5, temperature 22–27°C, soft to moderately hard water. Feed quality sinking catfish wafers, frozen bloodworm, Tubifex, and Daphnia. Ensure good oxygenation and regular partial water changes (25% weekly). Avoid coarse gravel that may damage barbels. Pairs or groups work best in peaceful community aquariums with small tetras or livebearers.
