Hariwake Koi

Hariwake is a metallic koi with a platinum-white base color and bold orange or yellow markings, creating a striking two-tone metallic display. It belongs to the Hikari Moyo (metallic two-pattern) koi group. The contrast between the shining white base and the vibrant orange is highly visible in ponds and makes Hariwake a popular choice.

Water: 5–25°C, pH 6.8–7.8, good water clarity showcases the metallic luster. Pond: minimum 1,000 L; metallic koi look their best in dark-lined ponds. Feeding: koi pellets with carotenoids to enhance the orange markings; wheat germ in winter. Behaviour: friendly and active; quick to learn hand-feeding routines. Compatibility: all koi varieties; the metallic sheen contrasts well with matte-scaled koi.
