Centropyge heraldi
Origin: Central and South Pacific
Herald's Angelfish (Centropyge heraldi) is a uniformly brilliant bright yellow dwarf angelfish from the Central and South Pacific, sometimes confused with the closely related Lemonpeel Angel (C. flavissima) but distinguishable by the absence of blue eye ring and blue fin edging that characterize that species. Its solid, saturated yellow coloration adds an intense, sunny burst of color to any marine aquarium. It is a dedicated and active grazer of filamentous microalgae from rock surfaces and requires a well-established aquarium with natural algae growth to supplement its captive diet. Reasonably hardy and moderately straightforward to keep, it is a good choice for intermediate marine aquarists stepping up from their first reef system.
Provide at least 130 liters of mature, well-established aquarium with abundant live rock covered in natural algae growth for constant grazing. Supplement with marine algae sheets, spirulina flake, and frozen mysis alongside a quality angel formula. Keep only one per tank. May occasionally nip at large-polyp corals in established reef systems — monitor behavior. Prefers being introduced into an established community after other tank inhabitants.
