About
Heros efasciatus 'Rotkeil' — the red-headed severum — is a captive-selected form with a striking deep red to orange blush over the head and gill region. The body is golden-green. Severums are one of the more peaceful large South American cichlids, sharing space well with Geophagus, Satanoperca, and larger tetras. They are forgiving of water conditions and make excellent display fish for larger planted or natural biotope aquariums.
