About
Heros liberifer was only formally described in the 21st century and remains less common in the hobby than its famous relative Heros efasciatus. It offers a slightly different colouration with more copper-green tones and subtle variation in facial patterning. Equally peaceful and suitable for large community setups.
Care Guide
Water: 25-29°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to slightly hard water. Tank: Minimum 280L, tall well-planted aquarium with driftwood and open swimming space. Feeding: Omnivore leaning herbivore; spirulina pellets, blanched courgette, frozen bloodworm. Behaviour: Peaceful cichlid; mild territorial behaviour during spawning. Compatibility: Excellent with large tetras, plecos, corydoras, and other peaceful cichlids.
