Symphysodon aequifasciatus (captive bred)
Origin: Captive bred
The High Body Snakeskin discus combines the dense, intricate reticulated pattern of the classic snakeskin strain with a selectively bred deep, rounded body form that is heavily weighted in European show competition scoring alongside coloration. This variety is particularly sought after in Belgium and the Netherlands where body conformation is critically evaluated alongside color intensity. Each fish is a premium specimen reflecting years of careful selective breeding.
Maintain warm, soft, slightly acidic water (pH 6.0–7.0, GH 1–8, KH 0–4) at 28–31°C. Frequent partial water changes (25–30% every 2–3 days) are essential for maintaining health and show condition. Feed high-quality discus foods: frozen bloodworm, beef heart, and high-protein discus pellets. Keep in groups of 6 or more to reduce stress and bring out natural behavior. Provide tall plants and driftwood for shelter.
