Hippocampus kuda
Origin: Indo-Pacific (captive-bred)
Hippocampus kuda, the Yellow or Common Seahorse, is the most widely kept seahorse species in the hobby. Its uniform bright yellow body (colour can vary to brown, orange) and robust size make it an appealing display animal. Captive-bred specimens available from specialist Dutch and Belgian breeders are already trained on frozen mysis, substantially improving captive success. Requires a dedicated, calm, well-maintained seahorse system.
Dedicated tank with gentle flow. Temperature 22–25 °C. Feed enriched frozen mysis 3–4 times daily. Hitching posts. Stable reef water chemistry. Captive bred only — never wild caught. One pair or compatible group only.
