Clithon corona
Also known as: Horned Nerite Snail, Spiked Nerite Snail
Origin: Southeast Asia
Clithon corona is a small but uniquely adorned nerite snail featuring multiple horn-like spines radiating from its shell — thought to deter predators in its natural river habitat. Despite its exotic appearance, it is simple to keep, requiring only moderate water quality and a supply of natural algae to graze. Like all nerites, it will not breed in freshwater.
Water: 22–28°C, pH 7.0–8.5; moderately hard water with adequate calcium. Tank: Minimum 20L with smooth and rough hard surfaces; avoid overly fine substrate that may trap its shell spines. Feeding: Biofilm and algae; will accept algae wafers as a supplement in low-algae setups. Behaviour: Active grazer; the horn projections are passive defensive structures and cause no issues in the tank. Compatibility: Safe with all peaceful fish and invertebrates; an ideal community snail.
