Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis
Also known as: Indian White Shrimp, White Neocaridina
Origin: South Asia (captive bred)
The Indian White Shrimp is a white-bodied Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis variant originating from the Indian subcontinent, displaying clean, opaque white colouration throughout the body. It combines the attractive minimalist appearance of an all-white shrimp with the well-known hardiness and adaptability of the Neocaridina genus.
This shrimp adapts readily to a wide range of water parameters including most dechlorinated tap water, making it an excellent choice for beginners who want a white shrimp without the demanding care requirements of Snow White Caridina. It breeds prolifically in stable conditions.
The Indian White Shrimp is well suited to minimalist planted tanks, white sand substrate setups, or as a contrasting colour morph in a mixed Neocaridina tank — though cross-breeding with other Neocaridina morphs will affect colour purity of offspring.
Water: 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–15, KH 2–8; most dechlorinated tap water suitable. Tank: minimum 20 L; white or light substrate shows colouration well; plants and moss for cover. Feeding: algae wafers, blanched vegetables, shrimp pellets, biofilm. Breeding: easy; females carry 20–30 eggs; fry self-sufficient in mature established tanks. Compatibility: peaceful; excellent with nano fish and other Neocaridina; shrimp-safe tank mates only.
