About

Apistogramma iniridae is endemic to the Rio Inirida drainage in the Colombian Amazon, one of South America's most pristine blackwater river systems. Males display breathtaking metallic blue coloration that develops fully only in very soft, acidic, and oxygen-rich blackwater. This is a species strictly for experienced keepers who can replicate its demanding habitat.

Care Guide

Water: 26-30°C, pH 4.0-6.0, very soft (GH 0-3); RO water with blackwater extract essential. Tank: 60L minimum, dark sand, heavy leaf litter and tannins, minimal flow. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen micro foods critical; pellets only once conditioned. Behaviour: territorial during breeding; species tank with harem (1M:2-3F) ideal. Compatibility: species-only or with small Inirida blackwater tetras.
