Inlecypris auropurpureus
Also known as: Inle Danio, Purple Gold Danio
Origin: Inle Lake, Myanmar
Inlecypris auropurpureus is restricted to the unique, high-altitude Inle Lake ecosystem in Myanmar, where it lives alongside other endemic species such as the Emerald Dwarf Rasbora and Myanmar snakehead. Its body displays a beautiful golden-purple iridescence under angled lighting, and it adapts to the harder, alkaline water chemistry of its native lake. An active, peaceful schooler best kept as part of a carefully replicated Inle Lake biotope.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 7.0–8.0, moderately to hard water (GH 8–20). Tank: 60 L minimum; alkaline water, moderate current, planted tank with open midwater. Feeding: Omnivore — micro pellets, flakes, live or frozen Daphnia and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful schooler; keep 8+ for best group dynamics. Compatibility: Ideal with other Inle Lake endemics; avoid very soft water species.
