Cirrhilabrus isosceles
Origin: Western Pacific
The Isosceles Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus isosceles) is a rare and relatively recently described species from the western Pacific, named for the distinctive isosceles-triangular shape of the caudal fin in dominant males — a unique and immediately recognizable characteristic in a genus already known for elaborate fin morphology. Males display a vibrant combination of red, pink, and yellow coloration that intensifies dramatically during courtship flashing displays — among the most spectacular of all Cirrhilabrus species. Seldom imported and commanding a premium price, it is highly sought after by fairy wrasse collectors who appreciate both its visual impact and its behavioral richness in a properly arranged reef system.
Provide at least 180 liters with a secure, tightly fitting lid — a confirmed jumper. Keep as a harem of one male and multiple females for natural social behavior and the most frequent and spectacular display events. Feed twice daily with frozen mysis, cyclopeeze, and enriched brine shrimp. Peaceful with all reef fish of different body shapes. Males may display rivalrous flashing toward other male fairy wrasses but actual aggression is rare.
