Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred (Japan, Shimane Prefecture)
The Izumo Nankin is a very rare Japanese goldfish originating from Shimane Prefecture, where it was developed and has been maintained as a designated local heritage breed for centuries. It has a small, compact, dorsal-finless body with a warm red-orange back and clean white belly, and a distinctive wide, deeply forked tail that spreads broadly at full extension. This breed is of enormous cultural significance in Japan and is extremely rarely available outside the country, making each specimen a genuine collector's treasure.
House in a dedicated aquarium or show tank (minimum 100 L) with clean, well-oxygenated, cool water. Maintain temperature 10–22°C, pH 7.0–8.0, moderately hard water. Feed high-quality sinking fancy goldfish pellets, gel food, and frozen Daphnia to maintain body condition. Perform generous water changes (40% twice weekly). Best kept only with other fancy goldfish; avoid any fin-nipping species.
