Lepidarchus adonis
Also known as: Jellybean Tetra, Adonis Tetra
Origin: West Africa (Ghana, Togo)
Lepidarchus adonis is one of the smallest and most delicate characins available, native to forest streams of Ghana and Togo. Its body is nearly transparent, with males displaying small but vivid gold and black spots on the fins during display. It requires very soft, slightly acidic water and a calm environment without competition from larger, boisterous fish.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 5.5–7.0, very soft water essential (GH 1–6). Tank: Minimum 30L nano tank with gentle filtration, leaf litter, and plants. Feeding: Micro-crushed flake, infusoria, live baby brine shrimp, and micro worms. Behaviour: Timid schooling fish; most active in groups of 8+; avoids open water. Compatibility: Nano fish only; best with similarly tiny fish such as Neolebias, Microdevario, or small killifish.
