Julidochromis marlieri
Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Zambia
Julidochromis marlieri 'Katabe' has a striking black-and-white checkered pattern on its elongated body. It inhabits rocky zones in Lake Tanganyika and grazes on algae and aufwuchs. Julidochromis species can hybridise freely, so keeping species separate is important. Pairs form long-term bonds and share parental care. They are moderately aggressive within the species but manageable in Tanganyika community setups.
pH 8.0–8.5. Rocky Tanganyika biotope. Keep species-pure. Pair or small groups. Feed: spirulina flakes, algae wafers, mysis.
