Julidochromis marlieri
Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Africa
Julidochromis marlieri is a graceful elongated cichlid from Lake Tanganyika with a beautiful chessboard-pattern of brown and white squares. It forms lasting monogamous pair bonds and spawns in rocky crevices. More tolerant than some of its cousins, it can be kept in smaller tanks and gets along reasonably well with other Tanganyikan species.
Keep as a pair or in a colony in at least 80 L for a pair. Provide many rocks and caves. Hard, alkaline water essential. Feed quality cichlid pellets, frozen brine shrimp, cyclops. Can be aggressive toward the same species; keep a single pair or a large group. Excellent parents — biparental care.
