About
Julidochromis transcriptus 'Magara' is the smallest of the marlieri complex, with vivid black-and-white block colouring. The Magara variant has particularly high contrast. It is hardy for a Tanganyika cichlid and one of the better starter species for the genus. The compact size (up to 9 cm) makes it suitable for smaller Tanganyika biotope tanks. Pairs bond closely and are attentive parents.
