Corydoras julii
Also known as: Julii Cory, Leopard Cory
Origin: South America (Brazil — lower Amazon tributaries)
Corydoras julii is native to slow-moving tributaries of the lower Amazon in Brazil and is distinguished from the commonly sold Corydoras trilineatus by its distinctly separate, non-reticulated spots. It is a peaceful, active schooling catfish that spends its time sifting through fine substrate in search of food. In a well-maintained planted tank it will thrive for many years.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 2–15). Tank: 60 L minimum; fine sand essential to protect delicate barbels; leaf litter adds naturalism. Feeding: Sinking pellets, Hikari wafers, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful, diurnal schooler; keep 6+ individuals for confident behaviour. Compatibility: Excellent with tetras, livebearers, dwarf cichlids, and peaceful invertebrates.
