Jurupari Eartheater

Satanoperca jurupari is one of the most commonly kept eartheaters and a great introduction to the group. Its mottled brown-green colouration is deceptively subtle, but its active sifting behaviour and peaceful nature make it a fascinating aquarium resident. Hardy and tolerant of a range of conditions.

Water: 24-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5, moderately soft water. Tank: Minimum 300L, fine sand substrate at least 8cm deep, open swimming space. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia; supplement with blanched vegetables. Behaviour: Peaceful toward most tankmates; mild territorial behaviour during spawning. Compatibility: Ideal with large tetras, peaceful cichlids, and plecos.
