Corydoras kanei
Origin: Venezuela (Orinoco drainage)
Corydoras kanei is an uncommon species collected from the Orinoco drainage in Venezuela, exhibiting a pale, slightly translucent body with a single prominent dark lateral stripe and scattered fine spots that give it a clean, understated elegance. Its scarcity in the European aquarium hobby makes it a prized find for dedicated cory enthusiasts looking to expand their collection with less commonly seen species. Like all corydoras, it benefits from a sandy substrate, excellent water quality, and the social company of conspecifics.
House in groups of at least 4–6 on fine sand substrate. Maintain soft, slightly acidic water (pH 5.5–7.0, GH 1–10) at 23–27°C. Feed quality sinking catfish wafers, frozen bloodworm, Tubifex, and Daphnia. Ensure good oxygenation and regular partial water changes. Avoid coarse gravel that may damage barbels. Best paired with peaceful small tetras or livebearers in a calm community aquarium.
