About

The Kawanga Hap is a localised Copadichromis variant collected near the Kawanga region of Lake Malawi, known for the male's blue-orange spawning colouration. It is a planktivore in the wild, making it adaptable to various quality pelleted foods in captivity. Best displayed in groups in large, well-filtered aquaria.

Care Guide

Water: 24-27°C, pH 7.5-9.0, hard alkaline water with efficient filtration. Tank: Minimum 300L; open sandy substrate with occasional rocky feature. Feeding: Small pelleted cichlid food, frozen cyclops, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful among tankmates; males court females actively with impressive colour display. Compatibility: Ideal for peaceful peacock and hap community; not suitable with aggressive mbuna.
