Metriaclima lombardoi

Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Metriaclima lombardoi is one of the most sexually dichromatic mbuna, with juveniles and females displaying vivid yellow colouration while dominant males turn a deep blue with faint vertical barring. It is one of the more aggressive mbuna species, and males will vigorously chase females and rival males. Overcrowding with multiple males is not recommended.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, hard alkaline water. Tank: 180L minimum with plenty of rocks to break lines of sight. Feeding: Algae-dominant diet; spirulina flakes and pellets with limited protein. Behaviour: One of the more aggressive mbuna; males chase females relentlessly when breeding. Compatibility: Robust mbuna community; not suitable for mixed hap/peacock tanks.
