Cyprinus rubrofuscus (domesticated koi)
Origin: Captive bred
Ki Bekko is one of the rarest and most unusual Bekko varieties, displaying a bright lemon-yellow to warm golden-yellow body overlaid with bold jet-black sumi markings distributed across the back and flanks in the Bekko pattern. Its unconventional colouration stands apart from the more common Shiro Bekko (white) and Aka Bekko (red) and makes it an instant conversation piece in any garden pond. Rarely available, Ki Bekko commands significant collector interest from koi enthusiasts seeking unusual varieties.
House in a well-filtered pond of at least 1,000 L with good water clarity. Maintain pH 7.0–8.5, temperature 5–25°C; fully cold-hardy through Northern European winters. Feed quality koi pellets seasonally. The yellow colouration benefits from quality carotenoid-rich diet and good water clarity. UV sterilization and regular water changes maintain the contrast between yellow body and black sumi. Compatible with all other koi.
