About
Hypancistrus sp. L066, the King Tiger Pleco, displays a striking pattern of bold black and cream/white irregular stripes and spots — bolder than the Zebra Pleco and with a more marbled appearance. Native to Rio Xingu rapids, it shares similar care requirements. A carnivorous omnivore preferring meaty sinking foods over algae. A cave-brooding species; males guard eggs. Popular among L-number enthusiasts and increasingly available as captive-bred.
Care Guide
Warm water (27–31 °C), strong flow, high oxygen. Provide multiple caves. Feed sinking meaty pellets, frozen bloodworm, mussels. Low bioload tank — sensitive to nitrate accumulation. Peaceful community fish outside its territory.
