Apistogramma kullanderi
Also known as: Kulander's Apisto, Kullanderi Apistogramma
Origin: South America
Apistogramma kullanderi is one of the more recently described and prized Apistogramma, collected from the Tapajós River system in Brazil. Males are exceptionally colourful with vivid blue and orange scaling, and this species commands significant interest among dwarf cichlid collectors. Soft, slightly acidic water is essential for its long-term wellbeing.
Water: 24-29°C, pH 5.0-6.8, soft (GH 1-6); high water quality critical. Tank: 80L minimum, sand substrate, numerous caves, driftwood, dense planting. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen microfoods strongly preferred; high-quality pellets. Behaviour: territorial during breeding; harem (1M:2-3F) in spacious tank. Compatibility: species tank or with very small, non-competitive tetras.
