About
Baryancistrus sp. L010a (Sunshine Pleco) is a large and spectacularly coloured loricariid from the Rio Xingu, distinct from the Gold Nugget in its larger, more widely spaced yellow spots and yellow fin trim. It demands the same warm, fast-flowing, highly oxygenated conditions of the Xingu and grows to a substantial size requiring a large, powerful aquarium.

Water: 26–30°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft; extremely high flow and oxygenation. Tank: Rocky caves and boulders; minimum 250L; powerful filtration. Feeding: Omnivore; biofilm grazer; algae wafers, Repashy, blanched veg, and meaty supplements. Behaviour: Nocturnal; territorial toward other Baryancistrus — one per tank. Compatibility: Peaceful with most community fish; avoid housing with Gold Nuggets.
