Leporacanthicus triactis (L025) is a carnivorous loricariid from the Rio Tocantins in Brazil, closely related to the Galaxy Pleco. It is distinguished by its vivid orange-red spotting on a jet-black body and its bold orange dorsal fin. Like other Leporacanthicus, it has elongated teeth for invertebrate predation and should not be kept with snails or shrimp.
Water: 25–29°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft; clean and well-oxygenated. Tank: Deep rocky caves; minimum 200L; keep substrate clean. Feeding: Carnivore; snails, bloodworms, frozen seafood, sinking carnivore pellets. Behaviour: Nocturnal; semi-aggressive; predatory toward invertebrates. Compatibility: Keep with robust medium-to-large fish; avoid dwarf shrimp and snails.
