Dekeyseria picta
Also known as: Butterfly Pleco, L052, Flounder Pleco
Origin: Brazil, Venezuela
Dekeyseria picta (L052) is a distinctively flat loricariid adapted for life on rock faces in turbulent Amazonian rivers. Its rich brown-and-cream marbled pattern serves as excellent camouflage. It is predominantly herbivorous, requiring biofilm, algae, and vegetable matter, and appreciates strong water flow that mimics its natural habitat.
Water: 26–30°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft and clean; moderate to strong flow recommended. Tank: Smooth rocks and driftwood for clinging; minimum 120L with good circulation. Feeding: Herbivore; blanched vegetables, algae wafers, spirulina, and biofilm. Behaviour: Nocturnal; largely peaceful; rests flat against surfaces during the day. Compatibility: Excellent community pleco; compatible with most peaceful South American fish.
