Pseudacanthicus sp. L114 is a heavily armoured and well-defended loricariid from Brazil, covered in prominent odontodes (spines) along its body and fin edges. It is a carnivorous predator that requires meaty foods and spacious housing. Its imposing appearance and powerful build make it a statement species in large specialist collections.
Water: 24–29°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft to moderate; strong filtration essential. Tank: Minimum 300L; large caves and overhangs; robust substrate and decor. Feeding: Carnivore; snails, mussels, prawns, bloodworms, carnivore sinking pellets. Behaviour: Nocturnal; aggressive toward other large bottom dwellers and own species. Compatibility: Keep with large, robust fish only; incompatible with other Pseudacanthicus.
