About
This dark-form variant of Hemiancistrus sp. L128/L239 from the Rio Orinoco displays a noticeably deeper blue-black body colouration with reduced but intensified yellow spotting compared to standard specimens. Visually distinct from the regular Blue Phantom, it commands premium prices among Hemiancistrus enthusiasts and requires the same high-flow, warm, soft-water conditions.
Care Guide
Water: 26–30°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft; very high flow and oxygenation critical. Tank: Rocky caves and boulders; minimum 150L; powerful canister filter. Feeding: Omnivore; algae wafers, Repashy Soilent Green, blanched greens, and meaty treats. Behaviour: Nocturnal; territorial toward other Hemiancistrus — keep one male per tank. Compatibility: Peaceful with most community fish; do not mix with standard Blue Phantoms.
