Hemiancistrus sp. L137 is a moderately sized loricariid from Brazilian river systems, characterised by its bold, widely spaced pale spots on a dark brown body. It is an omnivore that feeds on biofilm, algae, and meaty supplements. Relatively adaptable and peaceful, it suits community aquariums with other South American species.
Water: 25–30°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate; regular water changes important. Tank: Driftwood and rock caves; minimum 150L for a single adult. Feeding: Omnivore; algae wafers, Repashy, blanched veg, and occasional bloodworms. Behaviour: Nocturnal; peaceful but may be territorial toward similar-looking plecos. Compatibility: Compatible with most community fish; avoid keeping two males together.
