Peckoltia vittata
Also known as: Watermelon Pleco, L330
Origin: Brazil (Amazon basin)
Peckoltia vittata (L330) is a compact, attractively banded loricariid from the Amazon basin. Its alternating pale green and dark vertical bars give it a distinctive watermelon-like appearance. It is an omnivore that readily accepts a varied diet and adapts well to a range of aquarium conditions, making it one of the more accessible collector plecos.
Water: 25–30°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate; regular water changes recommended. Tank: Driftwood caves and rocky hiding spots; minimum 120L. Feeding: Omnivore; algae wafers, driftwood grazing, bloodworms, and quality sinking pellets. Behaviour: Nocturnal; peaceful but males are territorial toward same species. Compatibility: Excellent community pleco; works well with tetras, corydoras, and dwarf cichlids.
