Panaqolus sp. L340
Also known as: Mega Clown Pleco, L340
Origin: Brazil (Rio Tocantins)
Panaqolus sp. L340 is a clown-patterned loricariid from the Rio Tocantins in Brazil, displaying bolder and more extensive orange-and-black banding than the smaller clown pleco species. It shares the genus' requirement for driftwood as a dietary staple and makes a colourful and manageable addition to medium-sized aquariums.
Water: 24–29°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate. Tank: Driftwood essential for feeding; caves appreciated; minimum 100L. Feeding: Xylophage/herbivore; driftwood required; algae wafers and blanched vegetables. Behaviour: Nocturnal; peaceful; males guard small driftwood crevices for spawning. Compatibility: Good community pleco for medium tanks; compatible with tetras, corydoras, and peaceful cichlids.
