Laetacara araguaiae

Origin: South America (Brazil, Rio Araguaia)
Laetacara araguaiae is closely related to L. curviceps and shares its gentle temperament, originating from the Rio Araguaia drainage in central Brazil. Males display attractive blue spotting on the flanks, a yellow-orange belly, and subtle fin colouration that intensifies during spawning. Like other Laetacara, it is a substrate spawner with shared parental care.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5, GH 5-15, KH 1-6; adaptable to a range of water conditions. Tank: 60L minimum; plants, flat stones, and open swimming areas appreciated. Feeding: Omnivore; readily accepts flake, pellets, and frozen foods. Behaviour: Peaceful; pairs guard eggs and fry on flat surfaces or broad plant leaves. Compatibility: Outstanding community fish; pairs well with most peaceful tropical species.
