Genicanthus lamarck
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Lamarck's Angelfish (Genicanthus lamarck) is a sexually dimorphic species where males display a white body with black horizontal stripes and a lyretail, while females show bold black and white colouring with distinctive stripes. Unlike most angels, Genicanthus species are planktivores and genuinely reef-safe, making them excellent choices for reef aquariums. Best kept in harems with one male and multiple females.
House in an aquarium of at least 300 L with a well-established reef or FOWLR setup. Feed enriched frozen mysis, cyclops, and zooplankton-based foods multiple times daily. Keep as a single male with 2–4 females. Reef-safe; does not nip at coral polyps. Compatible with most other reef inhabitants.
