Chaetostoma sp. LDA098
Also known as: Rubber Pleco, LDA098, Rubbernose Pleco, Bulldog Pleco
Origin: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador
Chaetostoma sp. (LDA098) is a sturdy, flat-bodied loricariid native to fast-flowing, cool to moderate Andean rivers. It attaches firmly to rocks and glass with its sucker mouth to graze biofilm and algae. Its tolerance for cooler and harder water than most plecos makes it a versatile addition to many community setups.
Water: 20–26°C, pH 6.0–8.0, adaptable to harder water than most plecos. Tank: Smooth rocks and wood for clinging; good flow; minimum 100L. Feeding: Herbivore; algae wafers, spirulina tabs, blanched zucchini and cucumber. Behaviour: Active grazer; predominantly diurnal compared to many plecos. Compatibility: Peaceful with virtually all community fish; avoid aggressive cichlids.
