Iotichthys phlegethontis
Origin: USA (Bonneville Basin, Great Basin)
Iotichthys phlegethontis is a tiny, peaceful tetra from the Bonneville basin of North America, making it one of the few native North American nano fish in the aquarium hobby. Its subtle silver-gold coloration and active schooling behaviour make it charming in a species tank. Hardy and cold-tolerant, it thrives in unheated setups.
Keep in groups of at least 8 in a planted aquarium of 40 L or more. Tolerates cooler temperatures (16–24°C) and a wide range of pH. Feed micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, and fine flake. Best in a species tank or with other small cold-tolerant fish. A delightful nano fish for the patient aquarist.
