Crenicichla lenticulata
Also known as: Lenticulata Pike Cichlid, Spotted Pike Cichlid
Origin: South America
Crenicichla lenticulata is one of the larger pike cichlid species, characterised by oval lens-shaped spots arranged along its powerful body. It originates from the upper Amazon and its tributaries and grows to an impressive size, requiring a very large aquarium and robust filtration.
Water: 25-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to slightly hard water. Tank: Minimum 500L, large pieces of driftwood, flat stones; powerful filtration mandatory. Feeding: Large live or frozen fish, prawns, squid, quality large carnivore sticks. Behaviour: Extremely aggressive; will attack and eat almost any tankmate. Compatibility: Species-only; even pairing is risky without a very large tank.
