Peckoltia compta (L134) is a compact and beautifully patterned loricariid from the Rio Jamanxim tributary of the Rio Tapajós. Its alternating golden and dark brown vertical bars are highly variable between individuals, adding to its collectibility. It is an omnivore that accepts a range of foods and is well-suited to smaller collector setups.
Water: 25–30°C, pH 5.8–7.2, soft to moderate; regular water changes. Tank: Driftwood caves and rocky hiding spots; minimum 80L. Feeding: Omnivore; algae wafers, Repashy, sinking pellets, bloodworms, and blanched veg. Behaviour: Nocturnal; peaceful; males guard eggs in driftwood caves. Compatibility: Excellent community pleco; compatible with tetras, rasboras, and small cichlids.
