Peckoltia compta
Origin: Rio Tapajós, Brazil
Peckoltia compta, the Leopard Frog Pleco (L134), features a cream body with black irregular banding reminiscent of a leopard frog. Originating from the Rio Tapajós in Brazil, it stays compact at 10–12 cm, making it ideal for medium-sized planted tanks. More omnivorous than many Hypancistrus, it appreciates a varied diet of algae wafers, vegetables, and sinking meaty foods. Personable and active at night; often seen exploring the tank after lights-out.
Temperature 26–30 °C, moderate flow. Caves and driftwood for hiding. Feed algae wafers, fresh vegetables, frozen bloodworm. Tolerates community tanks well. Keep nitrates below 20 ppm.
