Macropharyngodon ornatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Macropharyngodon ornatus, the Ornate Leopard Wrasse, is one of the most beautiful and delicate wrasse species. Its white body is covered in intricate blue, orange, and black leopard-like spotting that varies between males (more vivid) and females. Requires a mature tank with a healthy copepod population to supplement frozen feeding, as it is a fussy eater, particularly when first introduced. A deep sand bed is essential for sleeping. Best for established, mature reef systems.
Mature reef with copepod infauna. Deep sandbed (5+ cm). Feed frozen mysis, baby brine shrimp multiple times daily. Standard reef parameters. Sensitive to water quality — only for established tanks. Do not combine with aggressive feeders. Lid essential.
