Lepidiolamprologus elongatus
Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Africa
Lepidiolamprologus elongatus is one of the larger predatory lamprologines from Lake Tanganyika, a sleek torpedo-shaped cichlid built for speed in open water. Its silver-blue flanks and prominent dark lateral stripe give it an elegant, streamlined appearance. An active and bold fish requiring a spacious aquarium with plenty of open swimming room.
Provide a large aquarium of at least 300 L with hard alkaline water. Include open swimming areas with some rocky hiding spots at the perimeter. Feed meaty foods including large frozen shrimp, cichlid pellets, and fish fillets. Keep as a pair or alone; aggressive toward conspecifics. Compatible with similarly-sized robust Tanganyikan fish.
