Chromidotilapia linkei
Also known as: Linke's Cichlid
Origin: Central Africa (Congo basin)
Chromidotilapia linkei is a more slender and elegant Chromidotilapia species found in the Congo River drainage. It displays the same fascinating biparental mouthbrooding strategy as other genus members and has attractive lateral banding. Soft to moderately hard acidic water suits it best and it thrives in a well-maintained West African biotope.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft to medium hardness. Tank: Minimum 120L; combination of open areas and planted zones with caves. Feeding: Cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, earthworms, and plant-based foods. Behaviour: Shares mouthbrooding duties between male and female; moderately territorial during breeding. Compatibility: Compatible with medium-sized West African tetras and similarly sized peaceful cichlids.
