Parosphromenus linkei
Also known as: Linke's Licorice Gourami
Origin: Borneo
Parosphromenus linkei is widely regarded as one of the most colourful Parosphromenus species, with males in breeding condition displaying intense red and blue iridescence. It is native to blackwater peat swamp systems in Kalimantan, Borneo. It demands very soft, acidic conditions and live foods for optimal health and colour expression.
Water: temp 22–28°C, pH 3.5–6.0, very soft blackwater; peat filtration recommended. Tank: minimum 30L species tank; leaf litter, coconut caves, and fine-leaved plants. Feeding: carnivore — live micro-invertebrates; will accept frozen equivalents when established. Behaviour: peaceful; males engage in non-damaging fin displays during courtship. Compatibility: best in species tank; may coexist with very small Boraras species.
