Ancistrus sp. (long-fin variety)
Origin: South America (cultivated variety)
The Long-fin Bristlenose Pleco is a bred variety with dramatically extended, flowing fins that make it one of the most ornamental plecos available. It retains all the algae-eating ability and hardiness of the standard Bristlenose (Ancistrus sp.), making it both decorative and practical for planted community aquariums.
House in an aquarium of at least 100 L with driftwood for rasping and hiding. Feed algae wafers, spirulina tablets, blanched courgette, and cucumber. Avoids light during the day; most active at night. Peaceful with other fish but territorial toward other plecos of similar size. Excellent natural algae controller.
