Corydoras treitlii
Also known as: Long-nosed Cory, Treitli's Cory
Origin: South America
Corydoras treitlii is a large species from Brazil's coastal drainages with a notably elongated snout that distinguishes it from most cories. It uses this extended snout to probe deep into substrate for invertebrates and detritus. Its size and feeding behaviour require a spacious aquarium with a deep, fine sand substrate.
Water: 20–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness; prefers well-oxygenated water. Tank: 100L+, deep fine sand substrate essential, moderate flow, open swimming areas. Feeding: Sinking wafers, frozen bloodworm, tubifex, earthworm, and quality pellets. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; keep in groups of 6+. Compatibility: Good with medium-sized peaceful species; suited to larger community tanks.
