Ancistrus sp. (longfin form)
Also known as: Longfin Bristlenose Pleco, Veil-fin Bristlenose
Origin: Captive-bred (origin: South America)
The Longfin Bristlenose Pleco is a captive-bred variety of Ancistrus with dramatically extended finnage across all fins. When swimming, the flowing fins give it an almost ornamental quality rare among bottom dwellers. It retains the same easy care requirements and breeding behaviour as the standard Bristlenose.
Water: 23–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: Driftwood and caves; avoid sharp decor that can tear delicate fins; minimum 80L. Feeding: Herbivore; algae wafers, blanched vegetables, spirulina, and driftwood grazing. Behaviour: Peaceful and nocturnal; males guard egg clutches in caves. Compatibility: Excellent community fish; keep with non-nippy species to protect flowing fins.
