Tanichthys albonubes var. (longfin)
Also known as: Longfin White Cloud Mountain Minnow
Origin: East Asia (captive-bred)
The Longfin White Cloud Mountain Minnow is a captive-bred mutation of Tanichthys albonubes displaying greatly extended dorsal, caudal, and anal fins that trail gracefully as the fish moves. The iridescent stripe and red fin coloration are fully retained. It is slightly more sensitive to fin damage from current or sharp decorations than the standard form but shares identical temperature and water quality requirements.
Water: 14–22°C, pH 6.0–8.0, wide hardness tolerance (GH 5–20) — unheated aquaria suitable. Tank: 40 L minimum; gentle flow to protect fins; avoid sharp decorations. Feeding: Omnivore; small flake, micro-pellets, frozen daphnia and brine shrimp nauplii. Behaviour: Peaceful schooler; keep in groups of 8+; calm but active. Compatibility: Ideal with other small cool-water fish; avoid fin-nipping species entirely.
