Corydoras loretoensis
Origin: Peru (Loreto region, upper Amazon)
Corydoras loretoensis is a small, elegant cory from the Loreto region of Peru, patterned with a clean dark lateral band and a row of spots below it on a bright silver body. Peaceful and sociable, it does best in groups of six or more in soft, warm Amazonian-style water. An excellent choice for planted aquariums where it forages over sand and among plant roots.
Keep in groups of at least 6 on a soft sandy or fine substrate. Provide warm, soft, slightly acidic water (pH 5.5–7.0). Feed quality sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, and blanched vegetables. Sensitive to poor water quality; perform regular water changes. A good indicator species — visible foraging indicates healthy water.
